Looking for a romantic upscale restaurant to dine your date or perhaps celebrate a special occasion? Lift Restaurant is a getaway from the city! Located along Coal Harbour seawalk between the Westin Bayshore Resort and the entrance of Stanley Park. Here you get to enjoy the stunning view of Stanley Park, North Vancouver Mountains and the Burrard Inlet.
Lift Bar and Grill is a 2 floor medium sized restaurant with the dining room on the main floor and a patio for outdoor seating on the second level. On a warm evening, take advantage of dining outside either out by the front entrance or upstairs on the patio where you can enjoy the view and great food. In the evening enjoy the candle light dining with your sweetie. As part of their contemporary decor, be sure to see the amazing illuminated fish aquarium on your right just as you and your date come into the restaurant just before being greeted by the host. Ahead of you is the open kitchen, small but busy with chefs creating a storm. Just want drinks? You can sit at their large bar displaying all the poison you want.
Lift serves West Coast cuisine with a range of seafood and meat selections mixed in with a few Japanese dishes along with an extensive wine list perfect for pairing.
For our dining experience, we started off with a couple of martinis - Deziree (very sweet and heavy) and the usual gin and vodka martini twist. The amuse bouche to get our palates started. For starters, a plate of Baja Scallop and a Belgian Endive salad (Spiced and candied walnuts, Kosui pear, Roquefort dressing). Then a Quail entrée served with polenta and some greens. Finished with dessert, creme brulee and biscotti.
The service was prompt and hospitable. After we were seated, we were greeted by a man wearing a suit who came around to see how we were doing. Unfortunately he didn't share with us his affiliation with the restaurant so we were unable to address him in a proper manner.
With this perfect set up of being in an upscale restaurant and all its’ offerings, be sure to walk along the promenade for a midnight stroll along the waters especially on a clear night with a full moon and the stars sparkling brightly. As you and your Date walk in the cool crisp air, it is a perfect time to get close and end it on a memorable note.
Things to note:
- Bring address/map and contact number with you just in case or find the restaurant before the date rendezvous so you know ahead of time where it is. It can be a challenge as there isn’t a lot of signage.
- The restaurant offers Valet parking. So if parking ends up being a challenge, you can take advantage of this opportunity.
- If you would like to dine with a view, be sure to request for a table by the window. The tables in these areas are put together for small groups. The smaller tables that seat two are scattered throughout the restaurant so you might not get a good view.
- In the evening the lighting is very dim so suggest walking carefully. Our young server kept bumping into things cause he had a hard time seeing.
