Delilah's Restaurant and Bar - 2008 Review by "Party Diva" of SMiLES+FLiRTS

Delilah’s is a cozy fine dining restaurant and martini bar situated in Vancouver's West End just off of Denman Street. Designed with a luxurious atmosphere that matches perfectly to fit the martini ambience. You will find booths with velvet seating along the wall with two private rooms in the back in addition to table seating throughout. This restaurant is perfect for a rendezvous for two or a small intimate gathering of great company. Dine in the décor of dark chocolate brown tables with elegant cushioned chairs and tall tapered candlelight designed for romantic and cozy feeling. If you like to come out for drinks, seating is available around the bar. The ambience is very rich and relaxing along with good service, great food and drinks, you know you will have an enjoyable experience.

Known for their great martinis and believe to be awarded with one of the best in Vancouver. If martinis are your choice of poison, Delilah’s offers a good selection from very dry to bitter to very sweet, to cover the full spectrum of flavors. Upgrades are available for gin and vodka if you have a personal preference. So, naturally we started and ended the evening with a few martinis – Deluxe (Gin with a Drop of Scotch), Foreplay (Vanilla infused Vodka, Golden-Pear Liqueur and Sour Lime), Edsel (Vodka Broken Down with Lemon Zest for 90 Days), Bitter Betty (Ginger Infused Vodka with Cassis and a dash of Bitters). One thing that was out from the usual norm is being served your martini in the shaker glass with the strainer and a chilled martini glass placed at your table. Rather having your drink pre-strained by the bartender, you now take this role and have the option of deciding when you would like your drink (chilled longer, diluted more etc...).

We had initially dined at Delilah’s to enjoy Tourism Vancouver's Dine Out Vancouver presented by Visa Tourism Vancouver's Dine Out Vancouver presented by Visa but changed our minds after realizing their regular set menu offered a better selection and value for the money. Opted for their regular menu upgrading to a four course meal with options of selecting other dishes from the Dine Out menu, if there wasn't anything we liked from their regular set menu.

We started off with soup – Carrot/Maple and Cauliflower (with Cambozola and Hazelnut Oil). For appetizers, Porcini Dusted Bison Carpaccio (with Shaved Manchego, Dijon Mustard, Rosemary Oil and sprinkled with Capers). For our main course, Rosemary roasted lamb loin (assorted mushroom emmer 'risotto', pan juices) and Roast Chicken breast (with truffle mashed potatoes and a pine mushroom emulsion). Then ending on a sweet note Dark Chocolate and Grand Marnier Velvet Mousse and Lemon & Limoncello Tart (with Raspberry Coulis, homemade Lemon Ice Cream).

The service was really good and the servers were very approachable, friendly and hospitable considering it was a Thursday night where the restaurant was half full. We were impressed by the quality of food as well as their menu offerings that we would come back. If not lounge at the bar for martinis and some appetizers. Be sure to check out their website on information about their weekend entertainment and make it an evening out. Not sure if reservations are a must but it doesn't hurt to make one just in case especially if you do decide to come out during the weekend.

Things to note:
Parking can be challenge since the restaurant is located in the West End. There is hotel/gym parking nearby that you can take advantage of if street parking is a challenge with their permit and time limit parking areas.

Bring the address with you in case you miss the front entrance.
