"The most enlightened prayer isn't 'Dear God, send me someone wonderful,' but, 'Dear God, help me realize that I am someone wonderful."

Bin 941 and Bin 942 Tapas Parlours has been one of the popular places to hang out in Vancouver. Both restaurants have been here for several years and still going strong as they are known for the common trend of the line-ups in the evenings. This is a good sign. Two locations to serve you is Bin 941 located on Davie Street in downtown/West End and Bin 942 on Broadway close to Granville Street just across from Indigo's Chapter bookstore. Both locations are small with a warm eclectic atmosphere. Along with the dim lighting making it very intimate for small groups and romantic for couples. Check out both venues and see which one will turn out to be your favorite. I found each is different in atmosphere and menu offerings.

The layout of the venue can be too cozy so intimate conversations can be a challenge. You may end up getting to know your neighbors very well. Of course this can be a good thing if you are single and find your neighbors unattached and attractive. In the Bin 942 restaurant, there are booth seating perfect for small groups as this becomes a great opportunity for some privacy. Bin 941 has table seating or sit in the back where it is quieter (unfortunately you and your guests would be facing the wall). If the restaurant is busy consider sitting at the bar as another alternative. Or even consider sitting by the front windows for more privacy.

We had arrived early, knowing how busy this place can be at Bin 941 and sat by the window. Just as we were deciding on dishes, we were given a sample of soup. it was a creamy based soup that really hit the spot after coming in from the cold. You will notice the variety of food and drink menu offerings that you may have a hard time deciding on what to order. We started off with a glass of scotch and Bin's Bringria (Decadent Sangria-red wine, apricot brandy, ice wine, seasonal fruits), their version of sangria which is on the sweet side. Then had the bison served medium rare (Yucatan spice rub Bison flat iron steak, tequila lime sauce, pumpkin spiced pearl onions, jicama fried yuca salad, cilantro poblano chile syrup), Steamed mussels (in smoked tomato-saffron broth with spicy chorizo sausage), and the Classic "Bin" roast garlic chive mashed potato (made with real whipped potatoes). Funny enough the mashed potato turned out to be my favorite dish for the evening.

Things to be aware of:
Bring the address with you as it can be a challenge to find these restaurants due to the venue size. I found that they don’t have easy visible signage.

Since both of the venues are small and line-ups do happen, be sure to arrive early. I have noticed that on the Saturday we visited, the line-ups started close to 7pm considering that it was a wet evening.

The music in the background can be loud so it can be a challenge with conversations especially in a group environment. In Bin 942 there are booth seating so that may help but remember to come early to claim these seats. In Bin 941 there is seating in the back where it is quieter unfortunately you will be facing the wall.

Window seating is romantic and is great for a table for two. You are somewhat separated from the restaurant hustle and bustle. So this spot is ideal for conversations and some privacy.

The table space can be a challenge if you are sitting at a small table. Request to have your dishes ordered in a timely manner as the actual plate size are on the big size and you may have a hard time putting them all on one table.

This is one of the places that would be good to take a date out to. Small and quaint with the warm eclectic décor adds some sense of intimacy.
