Cactus Club in Yaletown is a funky hang out joint for a quick drink after work or before a major entertainment engagement. Conveniently located on the corner of Mainland and Davie Street, it is one of the places to see and be seen. The entrance is on the Davie street side. With the Canada line construction, it can be a challenge to find it. So park your car and walk to this corner.
It is popular among the young but you can be sure to find some hip mature goers as well. The place is divided into three areas - bar, restaurant and the patio. Although the view from the patio may not be appealing right now with the construction of the Canada line, it is a place not to miss out once the construction is completed as it is a perfect place to people watch. Especially if you find the bar area noisy with the music and people, the patio is a great place to just relax in a more quieter setting. Around the bar area where everyone are just hanging out for drinks perhaps catching the score on the live televised game. Otherwise, sit down in the restaurant dining section for a group or a table for two. With the dim lighting, everyone always looks good. Singles who are looking may find this is one of the casual places in Yaletown to check out if this is the kind of crowd you are attracted to.
Known for its’ casual fine dining, expect to find a large array of flavors and West Coast fusions to satisfy your taste buds whether it is just lounging around for drinks or dining in. There are plenty to tickle your fancy.
In addition to the usual vodka martinis and glasses of wine, we started off with the popular favorites of the naked prawns (stripped and ready to eat with cocktail sauce), good portion of crispy yam fries (with garlic aioli), dry ribs (pork rib ends with salt and pepper), and calamari (served with tzatziki) served hot and not overcooked. All these plates are perfect for sharing and a good size for trying out new dishes. Later we ordered the ranch steak fajitas served with charbroiled marinated beef with all the usual fixings of salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and vegetables. Wrap it up your own way in a warm tortilla shells. This plate is big enough to fill a man’s hunger.
Just to note, the service may be slow so be prepared to enjoy a longer stay with a few more drinks and great conversations.
Whether you are just coming out to relax for a drink and a quick bite, hanging out with good friends or perhaps a good meeting spot for a potential date before an evening out, stop by for some cool hip vibes and casual atmosphere.
