Crave Restaurant - 2007

3941 Main St., Vancouver
Tel: 604-872-3663

A contemporary low key place found on ever booming Main Street, not too far from King Edward Avenue. Run by former Four Seasons Vancouver Hotel Executive Chef, Wayne Martin, Crave is great for impressing someone special or just hanging out with a loved one or with friends. Small venue comes with an outdoor heated patio out in the back where my friends and I sat out on a crisp September evening. I have never been there and was impressed by the atmosphere both inside and out in the enclosed patio.

The menu has a small selection of small and large plates with a good mixture of flavors to choose from. You may want to visit them from time to time as the menu will change accordingly. We all started with drinks, wine and cocktails. If I had known they had martinis, I would have gotten one to see how they rate. The table ordered the shrimp tempura and calamari plate (large shrimps were lightly battered with a unique herbaceous dipping sauce), special of the day soup (potato, fennal seed and blue cheese), angel hair pasta tossed in a light non-tomato sauce to perfection, crab cake with cobb salad, and a huge plate of nachos. We were impressed by the taste of the food and presentation. It is down-to-earth food that you crave for made with a gourmet flare to it.

The restaurant started getting busy and we couldn't help but noticed what people have ordered. The meals in good sized portions looked so good that it caught our eyes. The table next to us had the pull pork sandwich smothered with fries and was really pleased with it.

We got there for 5:30pm and when we left around 8pm, there was a line-up on a friday night. In my experience, when there is a line-up that means that it's a good place to go or at least check out.

Please note that the place can fill up so do arrive early and unfortunately they don't take reservations.
