Love Quotes

"Since love is not a thing, it is not lost when given. You can offer your love completely to hundreds of people and still retain the same love you had originally. It is like knowledge. The wise man can teach all he knows and when he's through he'll still know all that he has taught."

Zocalo is a warm, cozy spot on Vancouver’s up and coming Main Street strip situated in the neighborhood restaurants of Monsoon, Habit, Foundation, and the Whip. Newly opened in Fall 2006, Zocalo is bound to become the next hip place to hang out as it serves up eclectic Mexican flavorful dishes with a contemporary flare.

Be prepared to taste a different side of Mexican cuisine outside the usual tacos or burritos menu. Try the every popular Mole Amarillo (oaxacan mole made with chilies, tomatoes and spices served with wild mushrooms and warm homemade tortillas), Mussels (cooked with Mexican chorizo, beer and cilantro), Chicken Mole (breast of chicken done in one of the legendary moles of Mexico with chilies, spices, nuts and chocolate served with rice and plantains), Flank Steak (marinated, grilled and served with mushrooms cooked in tequila and chilies served with roast potatoes) or vegetarian Chick Peas con Chipotle (chick peas and yam stewed in a spicy chipotle sauce -made in typical Mexican Style with coca cola served with rice and warm, homemade tortillas).

Zocalo in Spanish means “main square” which was named with the intentions of this restaurant to get people together in one place for great food, drinks and great company of friends. Enjoy the intimate setting and the modern décor for a small group or a table just for two by the window.

Love to dance salsa? Salseros and salsaras, come here on Monday nights where the restaurant is closed and open strictly for dancing and socializing for Zocalo’s Mambo Nights. Come and dance the night away to the sexy beats of mambo, bachata and cha-cha with Dj Dancing Diego Sanchez from Grupo America from 9:30pm – 1am.

Meet a single parent and salsa dancer who realized her life-long dream of opening a Mexican restaurant, ZOCALO that's part bistro part gathering place for the salsa community. ZOCALO Dream, CBC Living Vancouver Segment
