Stonegrill restaurant is an upbeat venue for fine dining. Close to Yaletown located underneath the Granville Street bridge. The decor is very stylish with very clean lines and with the gorgeous view of the False Creek adds a romantic setting especially at sunset. This restaurant is spacious so can accommodate small to large groups.
What makes this place unique is the concept of conscious healthy cooking on hot stone plates without any oils therefore less calories and added fat. This is perfect if you are concerned about maintaining a healthy lifestyle dining out.
For our dining experience, we ordered the three course set menu that includes choice of salad or soup, a scoop of sorbet ice cream (served before your entree to cleanse your palate), main entree (your choice of meat, vegetarian, seafood or a combination of these) served with vegetables, and choice of dessert. For the offering and price, this proved to be a good deal to experience Stonegrill restaurant.
I have ordered the rack of lamb while my friend who couldn’t decide, got the mixed meat platter (pork, lamb and beef) that came sizzling on the stone plate. When the entrees came, the host who knew that this was our first experience took the time to carefully explain while demonstrating how to cook our food. Be sure to inform your server to ensure that you will have an enjoyable dining experience.
End the evening on a sweet note with a dessert like a rich cheesecake and dark chocolate with white chocolate mousse pyramid.
So if you really want to impress your date, this is one of the places to go for a new experience. If the food and the decor of the restaurant don’t impress her, the view of False Creek with the sun setting in the evening will with a bottle of wine.
Things to note:
1. Come dressy casual
2. For a great experience, be sure to get a table by the window for a great view
3. One of the challenges of cooking especially out in the open is the food smells lingers in the air permeating your clothing and hair. Finding yourself wearing your meal. You will find the restaurant is well ventilated.
