The whole singles party concept began with a conversation with a co-worker who had never dated. Never dated!!! A few days later, the idea of throwing a singles party came to me. I was thinking, "this will be a piece of cake since I have thrown all sorts of home parties." (In my circle of friends, I am known as the "Party Girl.") Initially, my endeavour began as the search for hope for my friend. My intent was to hook this sister up with a few male acquaintances and at the same time see if I could find someone for me as well. (Hey, why not?) I had been disappointed in the arena of love and still had hopes of meeting someone special.


I felt that the only way to accomplish this was to host my first party in a fun and casual environment where it would be easy for anyone including the shy ones to meet someone new. This, I thought, would ease my co-worker into the arena of dating. SMiLES+FLiRTS became a journey to help other singles, giving them hope and an opportunity to meet and make true connections with like-minded singles.


As the business grew, I realized deep down that I wanted to create a community. In our especially busy society, it's challenging to make genuine connections with others. Through SMiLES+FLiRTS, singles with similar interests, hopes and desires get to meet, create true connections, and form lasting friendships.


I've chatted with many singles and have noticed that not a lot of singles are fully self-aware when it comes to dating. ("What to do on a date" or "what type of person is right for me" are just two of the questions that people find difficult to answer!) I know that the dating process can be nerve-wracking and even frustrating, so to further help singles on the path, I've coordinated events that are not just fun, but also social and even educational. At a SMiLES+FLiRTS party, singles not only learn how to feel more at ease with themselves and with others, they get to practice their new-found skills in a fun, entertaining and social atmosphere!

Mon Sun, the Party Diva, is the principal behind SMiLES+FLiRTS. She hosts her own events and also co-hosts parties with other event coordinators or specific service specialists. SMiLES+FLiRTS occasionally works in association with other organizations to cater to the specialty interests and/or requirements of some singles (e.g., dog owner single events). These specialty events provide added value to members/attendees by placing them in a social atmosphere with like-minded singles, increasing their chances of forming new friendships and finding potential love.

Select the events that you would like to register for and follow the instructions posted on the web site / newsletter. It's that easy! There are a variety of events to choose from. You can come by yourself or better yet, bring your friends along!

The whole idea is for you to have fun socializing. If you meet someone special, that's great. If you don't spot that special one, you will still have fun, meet great people and make new friends. Your social circle will expand when you take on a new adventure with SMiLES+FLiRTS.

Unlike a lot of clubs who may charge monthly or annual fees, memberships with SMiLES+FLiRTS are FREE. All you have to do is sign up on the web site www.smilesflirts.com or send an email with "I wanna have some fun" in the subject line to partydiva@smilesandflirts.com

Membership has its' privileges:
- Access to bi-weekly newsletters outlining various upcoming single social events, dating tips, articles and reviews of dating-related products/services

- Access and participation in "Members Only" areas such as forums, and photo gallery

Non-members can read online articles and access the online dating resources/links.

The majority of singles who attend SMiLES+FLiRTS events are anywhere between 30 - 60 years old. Our members are warm, friendly, down-to-earth, very easy to talk to, and happy to meet other singles for true connections.

If you feel uncomfortable coming alone, bring your other single friends for some company. They will thank you for it and may even help you find your potential match!

Events are usually held at least once a month. To see which events you want to come out to, Login and click on the Calendar link on the left hand side menu.

SMiLES+FLiRTS organizes various themed events (suggested by members) to make it as easy and convenient as possible for singles to get out and meet like-minded new people. Themes may vary between mix-and-mingle events in town to events outside of the Vancouver area like snowshoeing at Cypress Mountain. The theme of the event will determine the location of the venue. Most events are held at social/recreation centers, restaurants and pubs as long as the location suits the requirements of the event. For example when SMiLES+FliRTS co-hosted the "Unleash the Frenzy" event for dog lovers and owners, it was held at a restaurant/pub location that was able to accommodate unleashed dogs in and around a pool area.

As you will notice in our newsletters and on the website, SMiLES+FLiRTS also promotes other non-affiliated singles events. We do this primarily to inform members of what's going on in Vancouver we are not associated with these events in any way. Our interactive events are designed to encourage singles to get to know each other on a more personal level (besides the usual questions about age, culture, occupation, income, and mode of transportation). We want singles to know a person for who they are rather than what they do and/or drive. The social and relaxing atmosphere at our events promotes genuine and interesting conversation, not just idle chit-chat.

Members are charged anywhere from $15.00 - $40.00 per event, depending on the theme and venue. Members who order food and drink that is not included in the event price will be expected to pay for their own tab unless otherwise stated.

The price of an event depends on the theme. Specialty events such as snowshoeing will obviously cost more than a mix-and-mingle event at a smaller venue. Since memberships are FREE, SMiLES+FLiRTS relies solely on event profits and advertisers to cover expenses. Please support the vibrant SMiLES+FLiRTS community by attending the events!
